I had the opportunity to review Homeschool Rescue by Only Passionate Curiosity.

I just do not know how to do things easy. Take my life. Making the decision to homeschool did not set me on a path of easy. That is all right, because I like challenges. Some of the best experiences and accomplishments have been while homeschooling. I will admit, there have been some difficult days mixed among some really bad days, but that is life. If you have some homeschool days that seem overwhelming or you wonder if you are doing a good job of teaching your children or the experience has just become a struggle, you may need to be rescued. Homeschool Rescue is an online course that will be there to pick you up and help you get back on track on your homeschool journey.

Heather, creator of the Homeschool Rescue, understands moms like me. That is probably the case, because she is a mom, a homeschooler and a former member of the Homeschool Review Crew. Heather knows about homeschooling and many of the challenges homeschoolers experience. She has created a five-module online course with the following topics:
Module 1: Triage Your Homeschool
Tips on addressing challenges or issues in your homeschool.
Module 2: Time Management Systems & Organization
Tips on how to get the most out of the time you spend homeschooling.
Module 3: Curriculum Planning & Organization
Tips on how to getting organized for the best productivity.
Module 4: Setting Students up for Success
Tips on how to bring behavior order while inside.
Module 5: Teaching Older Students
Tips on how to help your teen improve their study skills and time management.

The modules delve deeper into the five topics. To help you get started, Heather provides an introduction video, which shows you how to navigate the website and get assistance from her team. A private Facebook group has been set up for you to “meet” others using the course and for homeschool support. For now, the group has fewer than 100 members, which is nice, because it allows for more intimacy. With the large number of private Facebook homeschool groups already, there are so many homeschool members, which usually voids the opportunity for really connecting with others personally (a much as you can do online). I would imagine the numbers will grow as more people learn about the course, which does not have to be a bad thing.
Heather provides a 60-day Course Plan calendar, which includes a daily schedule of how to work through the course. Each lesson in the modules has a video, worksheets, and more. Oh yes, there is homework.
For me, having access to this course as I begin planning our new school year has been invaluable. Although I have homeschooled for almost 10 years, every once in a while, I feel like a newbie. This year has only amplified that feeling as I prepare to teach my first high school student. Lesson 2: Curriculum Pacing Guides was helpful for me, because I am working on lesson planning right now. There was attention given to a four-day school week, which is what we do. Heather gave suggestions and encouraged putting it on paper. She discussed the importance of taking breaks, so we scheduled those before planning any lessons. Heather suggests breaks may lead to less burnout. If you’re a homeschooler, you understand burnout. It is also helpful for children to know when breaks will happen. Everyone likes a break.
It is probably better if you work through the course in order, but I did jump around to a couple of videos. I just wanted to hear what she had to say about time management. Heather also includes a bonus section with a number of planners to help you get yourself together for rest of your homeschool experience.
You may enroll in Homeschool Rescue for $97.
