There is nothing better than new. Here I am at the beginning of another new Homeschool Review Crew cruise year and with a new product that was recently released for me to review. We had the opportunity to review a physical copy of The Beginner’s Bible from Zonderkidz.
The first Bible my oldest child ever received was The Beginner’s Bible from Zonderkidz. That was more than 10 years ago. Now, that Bible is worn from the many years of use, but still holds great sentiment for my son. Although he is much too old for its presentation, his copy is one he will hold onto and probably share with his own children. It was a very good first Bible for him.
Last year, Zonderkidz released an updated version of the same Bible, The Beginner’s Bible. The hard backed, glossy-covered, 512-page Bible is just what you would expect from Zonderkidz if you are familiar with their products. The presentation of the Bible is quality and the contents hold its own. The updated version has everything my son loved about the Bible and so much more. The Bible has been redesigned to include three-dimensional art presentations that are bright and capture the eye of its reader at the turn of every page. The vibrant pictures make it easy to invite children into conversation about God’s word. The font is easy-to-read, which is great for the target audience of the book – children ages six and under.
Two things that really make the new version more appealing to me are the vivid pictures and the large print that is appropriate for its targeted readers as well as young children who are learning to read. Older children can easily read through The Beginner’s Bible independently and feel accomplished as they are reading through their own Bible. The new book can also be well enjoyed as a read-a-loud for parent-to-child or for a child-to-parent who is learning how to read. The text on each page is short enough for a child to read and not grow weary or intimidated by the number of words on a page.
Although The Beginner’s Bible does not include the content of both testaments, word-for-word, readers are taken through the 66 books of the Bible. The Beginner’s Bible includes more than 90 Bible stories that will keep the interest of a young child. When the child grows from this early stage, Zondervan has a number of Bibles that are well suited for children and adults of all ages. My first student study Bible was published by Zondervan. It is a great Bible, but I need a new one too, because mine is so worn from use that it has fallen apart.
There is no better way to direct a child to the Lord than to give them their own Bible. The Beginner’s Bible has been the choice of many for over 25 years as the perfect Bible to present to children.
You may purchase The Beginner’s Bible for $16.99.
