We had the opportunity to review Glow in the Dark Egglo Eggs, The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure book, Egglo Treasures Scripture Scrolls, Egglo Bible Verse Stickers, The Egglo Glow in the Dark Egg Hunt Event Curriculum from Egglo Entertainment.
Egglo Entertainment has created glow in the dark eggs that are not only fun for children to use, but provide an opportunity for them to learn more about Jesus. While using the program, children are not only hunting for eggs, they are “hunting” for Jesus.
The Egglo program and adventure book are geared toward children ages four to 12 years old. If you are using the eggs in a group setting, then you may be able to cater the product to be enjoyable for children as young as three and maybe into the early teens.
Do not let the fact you do not participate in Easter egg hunts prevent you from learning more about the product. The focus is really not so much on the hunt for eggs. With the added feature of the glow of the eggs for them to be visible in the dark, it is supposed to remind children of Jesus being “the light of the world.”, but the search for the glow of the eggs signifies “the light of Jesus Christ”
The story of the Egg-cellent Easter Adventure opens the Saturday before Easter with parents feeding a baby, cooking and older children running around trying to entertain themselves in expectation of the upcoming Easter egg hunt.
The older children, siblings Hardy and Anastasia, and their cousin Pascal, are sent to the attic to find a board game to play. All the while, the three have been bickering, which stops momentarily at the sight of a glowing egg. The fighting continues as all three reach to be the first to grab the glowing egg. As all three touch the egg simultaneously, the egg glows brighter and scrolls with Bible verses are revealed.
The children, along with Zeke the dog, are transported to another world and begin the adventure on a “treasure hunt.” They must decipher the “codes” in the Bible verses that are written on scrolls and found in the glowing eggs. The once bickering children must now depend on each other and trust in God to discover the proper path that will lead them back home.
By the end of the story, all three children have grown in character. Hardy becomes thoughtful and considerate; Anastasia becomes brave and Pascal humbly seeks guidance from his “elders” – older cousins.
My children are closer to the older age range of interest in Egglo eggs, so I let my older two read the book together to each other and to my younger child.
Before reading the book, they put the eggs together and set them aside, so they could “charge” under the light. The eggs need to be put under light for them to glow. They do not have to charge long.
They later put the bible verse scrolls inside of the eggs that we used for the egg hunt. I hid the eggs around the house, but because of the lack of knowledge of the camera operator (me), my pictures did not show the true glowing in the dark visual you see in the eggs. The picture to the right will have to do for giving you an idea of how the eggs look at night/in the dark.
They had fun searching for the eggs. When the weather warms, I know we will be doing some outdoor egg hunting.
We chose to use the scrolls instead of the stickers. One thing that makes Egglo eggs so much fun is that children can create their own way of being creative with them. The Egglo Glow in the Dark Egg Hunt Event Curriculum 60 pages full of activity and decoration ideas, coloring pages and more that may be used with the program. The curriculum opens the door to creativity and making the use of the program one that can be used in a variety of ways with a small family to groups as large as a Sunday school class or AWANA .
Children may initially think Egglo eggs is just a fun hunt for Easter eggs, but they also learn more than they expect.
