We had the opportunity to review a physical product of the Tyrannosaurus Rex FlipStir Puzzle from Enlivenze LLC.
I know school just started back for most of you, but I promise, those days are coming. Those days are ones when your child will want to do everything other than school or you need something to add a bit of change to your school days. We include breaks in our school day, which help add some excitement to our school routine. My children usually use that time to work on something of interests or play a game. Lately, when it comes to game playing, solving the FlipStir puzzle we received to review from Enlivenze has been grabbed.
Enlivenze’s purpose is to add “Smart. Active. Play” to the every day of our lives. They have managed to do that with the FlipStir Puzzles they have created. So far, there are five puzzles that are offered:
Rainbow Pencils – Level 1 (see puzzle)
Tyrannosaurus Rex – Level 1 (see puzzle)
Solar System – Level 2 (see puzzle)
Statue of Liberty – Level 2 (see puzzle)
Periodic Table – Level 2 (see puzzle)
Each FlipStir Puzzle is a 10-piece, creatively crafted, self-contained puzzle in a tube/canister. The canister is small enough to sit on a bookshelf for easy storage. It is made of a hard plastic, so all hands (even the smallest of your children) may touch and try to complete the puzzle. Each puzzle is also rated on the level of difficulty to complete. So far, the puzzles only go through level 2 of difficulty. Another nice feature is each puzzle has a themed picture, so I chose the Tyrannosaurus Rex for Canyon, because he likes dinosaurs.
Unlike your typical puzzle, where everyone may grab pieces to complete, the FlipStir Puzzle provides an individual challenge for completing the puzzle. The puzzle comes with the pieces mixed up in the canister. The instructions are simple for completing the puzzle: 1) You Shake it, 2) You Stir it and then you 3) Solve it. Simple? For some, yes. For others, maybe not so easy. Fun? Definitely for all (unless they get frustrated – not necessarily, but could happen to a younger child).
The FlipStir Puzzle went through many hands. Some were able to easily put the puzzle together and others, well, they were challenged. You would figure ordering 10 pieces would be easy. My oldest (14) explained how he did it.
“Since the pieces are arc-shaped, you can just flip them around to the side and slide them into position. You leave a gap in the puzzle where you want the piece to go and insert the piece in order.”
Yeah, I know. Anyway, he was able to easily put the puzzle together. Lily (12) spent some time, but also was able to put the puzzle together. Canyon (nine) was able to put the puzzle together. They each enjoyed the challenge and accomplishment, but hated to see their work stirred again for the next person to attempt the puzzle challenge.
The FlipStir Puzzles are fun and a good coffee table toy.
Since there are bars indicating higher levels, I am hoping that Enlivenze will add more difficult levels to the set. It will also be neat to see what other type of “toys” they will create and eventually sell.
