We had the opportunity to review a physical copy of the Hey, Mama! Homeschool Planner for 2019/20 Year by author Gena Suarez, which is published by The Old Schoolhouse®.

The planner, one of the many homeschool resources available from The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine, has already sold out close to 98 percent of its print run. After that, no more copies of the planner will be printed.
You would think that deciding to homeschool or choosing curriculum or motivating your children to do school would be just about as difficult as homeschooling could get. Actually, that is not. The biggest challenges I experience each school year are planning and putting everything together. The first day of school (and all of those that follow), in all of its glory and order, do not just happen. There is a lot of planning, organizing and prayer that goes on behind the scenes. The Old Schoolhouse® seems to realize that planning is a great part of our daily lives. Although it does not guarantee every day will go as planned, days tend to run smoother when plans have been made.
The Hey, Mama! Homeschool Planner is an annual publication and a wonderful tool to help homeschool mamas prepare for the new school year.
Not only does it include planning sheets for the day-to-day for up to five children, it has sheets for the month-to-month, notes, attendance . . .
curriculum planning . . .
semester planning, yearly goals and books read by your children.
There is even a section on how to create a transcript with planning sheets for listing the courses your child takes as well as a transcript template to help you make one for them.
The quick reference calendars make it easy for you to see dates for the current school year as well as into the future, so you can keep planning for later close in your mind.
What makes this planner unique and special are the Hey, Mama! Devotionals you will find throughout the planner. Gena has chosen a variety of topics that will come up for a homeschool mom during the school year (life). As I was reading through them, I felt like Gena was writing personal messages of support and prayer just to me. Some of the topics she writes about in the planner are about being “Anxious?”, “Squabbling Kids”, Trials Are Tests”, “Field Trip” (which has a special place in my heart – I do field trips) and more.
I have the first draft of my school year, but need to gather a bit more information. As soon as that is confirmed, I will start filling out my planner as I prepare for school. Having everything in the beautiful, glossy covered, spiral bound (I love that it is spiral bound and not threaded) book is refreshing. That is how I see the new school year, as a fresh start.
The Hey, Mama! Homeschool Planner for 2019/20 Year by author Gena Suarez makes planning for the new school year easier.
