We had the opportunity to review an Annual Membership Plan from My School Year Homeschool Record Keeping.
I absolutely love organization, but for some reason, when it comes to my life (and everything else), I am completely disorganized. One would never know it, but it is true. Getting my life organized is an ongoing challenge. I don’t think I will ever get that on track, and that is all right. Now, when it comes to homeschooling, that is a whole other story. I have three people whose education depends on me being organized. That is where My School Year Homeschool Record Keeping comes in and is helping me get my homeschool organized.

I love the idea of an online planner, but have never been able to make the transition from paper to online. I have used scratch paper lying around all the way to creating an Excel spreadsheet. I love pencil (or pen) and paper. In spite of that, digital is the wave of the future, so I thought I would give it a try.
My School Year Homeschool Record Keeping is an online program that helps homeschool parents keep track of everything that goes on in their homeschool – classes, lessons, standardized tests, attendance, reading lists and more. You can even keep track of appointments, events, extracurricular activities and jobs your children may have. All records of everything homeschool and life are organized and easily accessible in one area (the program) whenever and wherever you need it. Your planner details can be viewed using a computer or other electronic devices.
The program is extremely user-friendly and provides new users with video tutorials to help them get started. There are also downloadable guides, e-mail support, in-form tips and toll-free support line if you ever need any help.
I am able to track the progress of assignments I have given my children.
These are the lesson plan options. You can be general or extremely specific with the lessons you assign.
I can even include details about the materials my child needs as well as comments about the lesson.
You can categorize the assignment as a regular one, or choose from other options that include choices like project, test, quiz and the type of frequency of that assignment.
You can also note the status/progress and assign letter and numerical grades for each assignment or item you add to their schedule.
This is our activity calendar. I am able to see everything (other than school) that is happening during our week. If you notice on the menu, everyone has a color and that color appears next to the activity that applies to that person.
Along with choosing the people report I want to see, I can view the calendar in four formats – agenda (shown above), day, week or month – for people who have visual preferences.
The Teacher’s Aid section keeps the teacher on track in case they have forgotten to add any reporting details. I like the reminders from My School Year Homeschool Record Keeping, so I don’t have to hear reminders from my children that I forgot something. 😉 Not forgetting to add detail also helps with not slowing my children down as they work through school. Having everything in one place on My School Year Homeschool Record Keeping is a wonderful tool for them too. It helps promote independence in their work and encourages accountability.
Some other features I like are the following:
1) The content is not only available online. You can print reports from your account for each child.
2) The parent can set up life schedules outside of homeschooling. Who knows, maybe My School Year Homeschool Record Keeping can help my life get more organized.
My School Year Homeschool Record Keeping is a great program for keeping track of everything you do during your homeschool year. I can see how it would be an excellent resource for parents who have to maintain detailed records of their progress and what their children complete each school year. Everything is right there in one place and orderly. I love all of the data areas My School Year Homeschool Record Keeping has for parents who homeschool. I am certain a completed homeschool year would be amazing to see.
At the beginning, there is a lot of work, typing everything into the program, but once that is done, the program is extremely easy to use. I love being able to make an edit to a scheduled item without having to erase everything and move it when a lesson does not get completed on a scheduled day. With an online program, I can just cut and paste. And when I have duplicate items to list, I can just copy and paste. It does not get any better than that. My School Year Homeschool Record Keeping makes managing the backend of homeschooling (record maintenance and more) so much easier.
I am still a lover of pencil and paper. My School Year Homeschool Record Keeping compliments that preference and still works well for people like me. The presentation of my records look better in My School Year Homeschool Record Keeping. They will also look better if there is a need to share them with an outside entity (ex: school board, state, etc.). An example is a transcript. The sense of organization it brings to your school is priceless!
