We had the opportunity to review the physical CD set of the Brinkman Adventures Season 4 from Brinkman Adventures.
Audio dramas. I usually have a difficult time keeping up with audio dramas. My mind wanders. Well, when I get the opportunity to listen to an episode from the Brinkman Adventure series, something a little bit different happens. Although I may have to go back and listen to part of the episode again, I find myself highly engaged in the stories that are shared.
The series introduces listeners to the Brinkman family, Jack and Susan Brinkman and their eight children- Mikah was added. Charlie, Isaac, Kate, Kitchree(?), Luke, Nate, Peter, Susan and new arrival, baby Mikah. The Brinkman homeschool their children and are missionaries. My daughter describes them as a family, “who serves the Lord and tries to help other people.” ~ Lily. Although the Brinkman family is not a real-life family, the experiences they have are based on real-life scenarios. Some names have been changed and some names have been created when it comes to the many places the Brinkmans visit. Also, some names have remained the same.
Season four comes with four CDs, more than five hours of entertainment and 12 episodes that are for “families, of all ages“:
37 A Paradise Lost
38 Remember Nhu
39 Aisha’s Fear
40 Heart Song
41 The Crashed Kitchen
42 Crisis In The Congo
43 The Mysterious Palm Feller
44 War of the Raccoons

46 Toughest Man
47 Cambodian Quest
48 What Brings Us Together
There are three episodes on each CD.
I told my children we were included in the group of reviewers, so we all were excitedly awaiting the arrival of the set. Once the CDs arrived in the mail, they were only in my hands for a short moment. Although we have binged through many series, we broke up the episodes into four days. It made for good listening before school began, during lunch and in the late afternoons after winding down from school. The episodes allowed us to see inside of the world of missionaries, the work they do as well as the many challenges they experience when sharing their faith. We saw the heart of not only the parents, but the children extended themselves in showing the love of Jesus. Missionary work is for all of us to complete regardless of our age.
Because the stories are based on true events, the episodes do not gloss over the experiences and show character strength through Jesus Christ. All of the stories will have an impact on you and your children, but one struck me hard and that was the story of Nhu.
Nhu was a young Cambodian girl who was sold into slavery by her grandmother. She would have been forgotten had it not been for Carl Ralston who heard her story told while attending a Bible program. Ralston heard the Lord tell him to, “find Nhu!” That is what Ralston did. It took him three years to find her, but he did. As a result, Carl, his wife Laura and Nhu later opened safe houses in Cambodia to help save other girls, like Nhu from the slave trade. I was saddened by Nhu predicament, but uplifted by her faith she would be “found” and aspired to help other girls who may experience her trial. I was also impressed by Ralston’s faith to listen to God’s calling for him and to pursue his mission even when it seemed futile. All of the episodes re that inspiring.
I love that good family, Christian entertainment like the Brinkman Adventures has been created. Having the audio presentation allows my children to enjoy a great Christian story while stretching their minds to visualize the action that is happening in the story. I really enjoyed listening to the episodes with them and the conversations we had afterwards.
If you are looking for a good Christian series that will touch the hearts of our children, the Brinkman Adventures is one to consider.
